Life story: Always a quiet child with a not quite stable or happy family life, Aeri grew up in Louisiana, in the French Quarter of New Orleans. She went to live with her grandmother, a very strict and religious woman, at the age of 7. A little one horse town in a fairly backward parish, Aeri hated it.

Living in the city had hardened the child, and she wasn't afraid to back bullies off using whatever method came to hand. She spent much time protecting a younger child than her as she got older. She'd save him from everything but himself.

At 14, she ran away, leaving the small town behind, and becoming just another teen runaway. By sixteen, she'd gotten into the business, and by 18, she had a pretty nest egg.

She returned to the little parish to bury her grandmother. She hung around that summer. But tragedy struck the small place, leaving her old childhood friend without anyone. In a show of rare compassion and sympathy, she took him with her.

At the age of 16, she agreed to teach him her trade. She was a strict, but fair teacher. Though her school is that of hard knocks. They still travel with one another now, but he is no longer student. He is now colleague and friend.
